Plum Creek is originally where the Ingalls family resided, their farm and barn were also located there. A small creek, or stream rather was not far away from the house and barn, this is where Caroline, Laura, Mary and Carrie were soaking their feet when Charles told them that this was their new home, after getting the property from Lars Hanson.
When the Ingalls family lived their, many passerbys lived with them for a short time such as William O'Hara.
Years later, the Carter family: John and Sarah and their two sons Jeb and Jason moved into the little house. It was one of the few properties that was not blown up by the townspeople of Walnut Grove in 1901.
