Robert Alden (more often referred to as "Reverend Alden") is the reverend at the church in Walnut Grove. Prior to becoming a minister, Alden was once a average citizen in Walnut Grove; up until the 1830s when a disaster killed his entire family. Which lead him to be an alcoholic for a time.

After "hearing God's voice" he became a minister, that series events however he seldom told, with the exception of him telling Isaiah Edwards after he lost his family from alcoholism since the death of his son.

Later in life Alden got married to church parishioner Anna Craig, her fate is unknown. Reverend Alden's ministries ended in Walnut Grove in 1901 when the town was destroyed.
