Richard Bull

Richard Bull (b. June 26, 1924 - d. Feb. 3, 2014) was a film, television, and stage actor who played Nels Oleson, the mercantile owner on Little House on the Prairie.


Richard began his stage career at the famous Goodman Theatre in Chicago. He was otherwise know as the Doctor on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, various roles on Mannix, and Judge Thatcher on Nichols.

Other than Little House, Bull made two appearances on both Bonanza as Jess Hill and Highway to Heaven as the doctor. Also appearing in the The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched, Mission: Impossible, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, and Gunsmoke. He lived in Chicago, Illinois with his wife, Barbara.

Bull died Feb. 3, 2014, at the Motion Picture Television Fund campus, Calabasas, California, after suffering from pneumonia.
